Founding partners Tracey LeBeau and Carolyn Stewart formed Red Mountain Tribal Energy LLC, DBA Red Mountain Energy Partners, as a Native and women-owned business in 2006. On December 16, 2010, it was announced at the White House Tribal Nations Summit that Red Mountain Energy Partners’ co-founder Tracey LeBeau was accepting an appointment to lead the newly created Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs, which is housed in the Undersecretary’s Office in the Department of Energy. Pursuant to federal rules, Tracey divested her interest in Red Mountain. She began her role at DOE in January 2011 and currently serves as Director, Office Indian Energy Policy and Programs.
